This is a solo derivative of Inlets. It is a composition Cage labeled
with the word "contingency", meaning "improvisation using elements in which there is a discontinuity between cause
and effect". (Cage in an interview with Stuart S. Smith) Wilheim András states: "as I know (from John Cage, whom I asked about it), there is no written score. The only information is that he said that Pools is in the same relation to Inlets as Child of Tree to Branches". This means that it is not possible to perform the piece.
